In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him
nothing was made that has been made. In
him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness
has not understood it.
(John 1:1-5 NIV)
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One
and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
(John 1:14 NIV)
He was in the world, and though the world was made by him,
the world did not recognize him. He came
to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who
believed in his name, he gave the right to become the children of God …
(John 1:10-12 NIV)
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all
creation. For by him all things were
created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible …
(Colossians 1:15-16 NIV)
He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
(Colossians 1:17 NIV)
For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him …
(Colossians 1:19 NIV)
Jesus was not a demi-god.
He was 100 percent God, and 100 percent man. The man was born in Bethlehem, but he was the
Second Person of the Trinity from the beginning.
It fills me with awe to think that he gave up his
glorious throne in heaven to become a man; born in a stable because there was
no room for him anywhere else. He came
to redeem you and me, that we might be with him forever. What a gift!
Merry Christmas.
