Rest for the Soul

Are you weary of life’s troubles?  Are your shoulders aching from the burden you carry?  Do you long to be free from the chaos your sinful style of living has created in your life?  Are you amazed at the blindness of the world - our leaders, the intellectual community, and the money-mad, sex-crazed, drug addicted, technology-dependent society we live in?  Are you spending your life serving evil, rather than good?  Do you long for a change?

If we repent and humbly come to Jesus with a child-like heart, He will show us the way to peace and the assurance of an eternity of joy in His presence.

At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.

“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  (Matthew 11:25-29 NIV) [1]

As the hymn Power in the Blood by Lewis E. Jones goes:

Verse 1
Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There's pow'r in the blood, pow'r in the blood;
Would you o'er evil a victory win?
There's wonderful pow'r in the blood.

Refrain:
There is pow'r, pow'r, wonder-working pow'r
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is pow'r, pow'r, wonder-working pow'r
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Verse 2:
Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There's pow'r in the blood, pow'r in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary's tide–
There's wonderful pow'r in the blood.

Refrain:
There is pow'r, pow'r, wonder-working pow'r
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is pow'r, pow'r, wonder-working pow'r
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Verse 4:
Would you do service for Jesus, your King?
There's pow'r in the blood, pow'r in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There's wonderful pow'r in the blood.

Refrain:
There is pow'r, pow'r, wonder-working pow'r
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is pow'r, pow'r, wonder-working pow'r
In the precious blood of the Lamb. [2]

Please do as Jesus said.  Come to Him and He will give you rest.
