Soon, Donald J. Trump will become President of
the United States. He has a track record
of doing in office what he said he would do while campaigning. He promised to begin a mass deportation of
persons who have entered the United States illegally. We may fully expect him to do it.
President Trump has appointed Tom Homan to be
in charge of preventing illegal entry into the United States at our borders,
seaports, and airports. He will also be
responsible for the deportation of persons residing in our country
illegally. In a segment on Fox News, Mr.
Homan said that they plan to begin by deporting the worst criminals among the
illegal migrants first. That is probably
the best place to start. It is something
most people think is needed, so it should have popular support.
According to the BBC, the Pew Research Center
found that “six out of ten” Americans considered immigration to be an important
issue when casting their ballots last November.
A Scripps poll reported that 86% of Republicans and 25% of Democrats support
mass deportation. The same source stated
that 54% of all voters support mass deportation, while 42% oppose it.
Prior to the national election, polls often
showed that American voters trusted the Republicans more than the Democrats to
manage border security. Last November, we elected Donald Trump, and gave the Republicans
voting majorities in congress. Turning a
deaf ear to the people, Democratic Governors are planning and implementing
actions to resist President Trump’s efforts to begin deporting “unauthorized
residents.”
So are Democratic mayors, including the mayors of sanctuary cities. In the US Senate and House of Representatives
members are split along party lines on the issue of mass deportation,
Republicans in favor and Democrats opposed. Once again, Average Americans can expect to
see their government deadlocked on an important part of the peoples’ business.
Estimates vary, but one reliable source
reports that 8 million persons entered the United States across its southern
land border, during the Biden Administration. Estimates of the number of persons illegally
residing in the USA vary from about 10.5 million to 16.5 million depending on
when the estimate was done and who estimated it.
The American people have spoken clearly, and we
want the border crisis, and the problems it has created dealt with – now. The Democratic legislation allowing up to
5,000 illegal migrants per day into the country before the president may close
the border is unacceptable. It appears
to have been proposed to force the Republicans to refuse to approve it. That way the Democrats could blame them for
failing to give President Biden the tools he needs to secure the border. That is typical of the political “dirty
tricks” the Democrats are famous for. Hear
this, one illegal entry into the United States is one too many.
Lamp in a Corner
welcomes persons who enter the USA legally.
We call on congress to pass immigration reform legislation that will
effectively regulate legal immigration, while providing those who want to
become US citizens a workable way to do so.
Those who enter the country illegally must be deported – humanely.
Problems have been created by allowing
millions of people to enter the United States illegally. They include housing
shortages; excessive demands on our educational, welfare, and medical systems;
human trafficking; sexual assault and exploitation; the importation of
illegal drugs; criminal gangs; terrorists and foreign espionage agents in our
midst; and criminal cartels operating in many of our major cities - to name a
few. Together, they have produced a
significant threat to our national security and our culture, and have contributed
to deficit government spending.
Title 8 U.S.C. Section 1325 is the law that
makes illegal entry into the United States a crime. It was later amended to make violations
subject to civil penalties. Title 8
U.S.C. 1324 makes it illegal to import persons into the US.
Section 1326 makes illegal reentry a
crime punishable by a fine or two years in prison.
In the United States of America we are subject to the rule of law. In other words we are ruled by laws – not by
men. We elect leaders to operate the
government within the law, and we expect them to protect and defend us by
enforcing the law.
Allowing millions of people to enter the
country illegally, to remain here illegally, and to eventually become citizens
is a slap in the face to the rule of law.
Therefore, it violates who we are as a nation and as a people. There are other reasons that all persons who
are in the United States illegally must be deported, but if this were the only
one, it would be sufficient.
We are already beginning to see demonstrations
against the new Trump Administration’s plans to deport illegal migrants. When the deportations begin the liberal press
will fill the airwaves with stories about families being torn apart, people
being dragged from their homes, and “concentration camps” where people are held
after being apprehended entering the country illegally. Two thirds of our population is about to be
labeled as fascist, racist, oppressors, and xenophobic.
Leftist lawyers in groups like the ACLU and
SPLC have probably already prepared legal briefs to persuade liberal judges to issue
injunctions to stop mass deportations.
We may be sanctioned by the United Nations. Countries around the world will likely condemn
us, while conveniently ignoring China’s human rights violations.
Demonstrations often have the potential of
becoming violent. Some of our “unauthorized residents” may refuse to leave
peacefully; especially the hardened criminals among them. If there is violence, the liberals in the
press, congress, and the universities will want “justice” for the “victims.”
The task of deporting 3.3 %
of our population seems to be a bit overwhelming. There are some people who seem to think that
all the incoming Trump Administration has to do is to wave a magic wand and 10
to 16 million people will suddenly disappear.
They are in for a disappointment.
Deporting all illegal residents will require a herculean effort. It is virtually impossible to deport millions
of people without occasional encroachments on human rights. Therefore, we must try to remember that the
greatest inhumanity that has been done to illegal migrants was letting them
into the USA illegally in the first place.
It has created the necessity for any unkindness that may occur from mass
deportation.
To retain the support of the American people, every
effort must be made to conduct the proposed mass deportation of illegal
migrants as humanely as possible. We
urge those responsible to make humane deportation a first consideration before
any operation is begun and conducted.
To reduce the cost to the taxpayer and ensure
that mass deportation is done as humanely as possible, we suggest that our
government remove the incentives that motivate illegal migration. These include, but are not limited to,
employment, public welfare benefits, subsidized housing, medical treatment,
free public education, bilingual government services, and mass transit (air,
ground, and rail). Hopefully, the
removal of these incentives would provide the motivation needed to cause
illegal migrants to return to their countries of origin on their own.
Providing transportation to their countries of
origin by the least expensive carrier possible would motivate illegal migrants
to leave the United States voluntarily.
If they have not been convicted of a crime, or are not known or
suspected terrorists or spies, they should have the opportunity to return if
they apply and are approved for entry.
To reiterate, entry to the United States
legally must be denied to those who are known or suspected of having terrorist
affiliations or an intent to conduct criminal activities. Entry should also be denied to persons from
countries who have shown themselves to be opponents of the United States and
its interests.
Before you dismiss these suggestions as
hateful, racist, fascist, or cruel, please understand:
They are submitted
in the hope that they will deter people from illegal entry and
provide illegal residents with the motivation to leave on their own. They are intended to make harsher actions
that might occur under a mass deportation unnecessary.
US citizens, and
our nation, have the right to self-defense.
They will save the
US Government a ton of borrowed money.
One last thing. Before you call American conservatives
fascist, dictatorial, and anti-democratic remember that under Democrat
presidents like Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden our fellow citizens
were killed by government agents who may have rushed to judgement and possibly
failed to exhaust all other available alternatives to lethal force; and the IRS
and Justice Department were weaponized to persecute the Democrats’ political
opponents like the Tea Party Movement and Donald Trump and his associates.
Remember, it is the Democrats who want the
government to have a monopoly on the possession and use of deadly weapons,
denying law abiding Americans the ability to defend themselves, while they let
criminals, terrorists and foreign agents flow freely across the border. They want us to stand helplessly by while
they let criminals rule the streets of our cities. If we don’t support President Trump’s efforts
to get things back under control, we are in deep kimchee. We do not have a lot of time left to get it
right.
